3 Additional Resources

FunBrain Games
This site offers game for a variety of subjects, and the games are categorized according to grade level. The adds that appear on the side of the site are kid-friendly, which is reassuring. The games offered on this site are all very different from one another, and I think variety is important when working with a classroom full of unique individuals. This site can be used in the classroom as a math station or center. Because the games are categorized by grade level it would be easy to simply instruct students to play 4th grade games. Students who may be struggling or those who need to be challenged can be instructed to move up or down a grade level. This is an easy way to make accommodations in the classroom without it being obvious to all of the students.

Knowledge Adventure
Knowledge Adventure offers hundreds of games, and the skill level for each game varies. I think it’s important that children have the option of starting off with something simple but progressing towards a more challenging activity. The layout of this website is very easy to understand, which makes this site extremely kid-friendly. The progression of games on this site would be very useful in the classroom because students may advance at their own pace.

Math Blaster
Math Blaster is a great way for kids to practice math skills while having fun playing in a virtual world. Math Blaster focuses on advanced concepts that build on what the children have learned in 3rd grade. This game serves as a great review of what has been learned as well as a great way to practice new material being covered. Math Blaster would be great in the classroom because it’s engaging and helpful. All students benefit from reviewing past material, and this game is a great way to do so.
